Artist, educator, and professional photographer/videographer, Andrew Caldwell lives and works in Grand Rapids, MI.  As an Assistant Professor of Photography at Grand Rapids Community College, he passionately explores all corners of the photographic medium alongside his students. 

Andrew received his both his MFA (2016) and his BS in Commercial Photography (2003) from the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, CA.  

Prior to being hired at GRCC in 2024, he was a professor at Appalachian State University. Andrew continues to be an active member of the professional image making industry. Prior to entering academia he spent 15 years as a freelance professional photographer and videographer in Southern California alongside his wife and photographic partner Anjula.  

His lens based fine art engages multiple mediums while exploring themes related to home, family histories and Black, mixed-race identity.
